This client is a large, investor-owned interventional pain management practice on the east coast. They operate multiple divisions in multiple states and have many providers and office locations.
This practice implemented the Centricity practice management system and EMR directly, with assistance from GE Healthcare. With the conversion to Centricity, the existing third party billing company began to struggle with collections performance.
Centricity was being hosted by a third party hosting service and performance of the EMR was unstable and unreliable. Physicians were highly frustrated with the system.
The original practice that engaged ALN in 2011 was growing quickly, adding both providers and new office locations. They were also in discussions with a private equity fund to acquire the practice.
This relationship started with ALN providing just revenue cycle management to one large practice in 2011, which was later acquired by a private equity fund. Another practice was acquired by the corporation and ALN’s role expanded providing revenue cycle management and business intelligence at the beginning of 2014.
Over time, the client asked us to help stabilize their hosting situation and then decided to move all hosting and support to ALN in 2013.
We also now provide help improving and optimizing the previously installed EMR. We now assist with all subsequent Centricity implementations (EMR and practice management) and are helping the client develop and train their own internal Centricity team.
For the original large practice, we stopped the slide they were experiencing in their collections performance and increased payments per claim by over 25%. Since 2011, we have helped that division grow by over 50%.
We successfully migrated Centricity to the ALN hosting environment and now manage Centricity and all related applications. We have moved the client to a best practice level of performance and reliability, while implementing more disciplined upgrade processes.
Through our EMR optimization efforts, we turned around the physician and staff satisfaction with the system and are now implementing the system in newly acquired practices. To support the client’s long term business objectives, we are helping train and develop their staff so they will be able to provide these services internally in the future.
