Counterpoint Thursday, April 28, 2011 We recently wrote about an MGMA study that found fully and properly implemented EHR systems improve physician productivity and reduce operating costs. No sooner had we written that piece than we saw a headline to the contrary. We’d say we want to be fair and balanced, but fear copyright infringement charges and other maladies, so let’s just say we want to present both sides of the discussion. So we clicked through the headline to the story. Lo and behold both headlines, one so cheery and positive and the other so dreary and dark, reference the exact same MGMA study. Disappointed, we learned more about headline writes than the state of affairs in the physician EHR market. The best answer is for you to read the 2010 MGMA physician EHR study yourself. It is worth the read and has some good depth. Both sides can claim to have facts and truth on its side, but you can make your own decision about which of the headlines more accurately fits with the results of the study |
